WHAT IS THE ST. VINCENT DE PAUL MINISTRY?
The St. Anthony’s St Vincent de Paul (SVDP) Conference provides financial assistance of rent, utilities, and food to those in need and living within our parish boundaries. The recipients are our neighbors, living down the street, and around the corner.
Your donations finance this endeavor mainly through a 2nd collection at weekend masses whenever there is a fifth weekend in a month.
Volunteers of our parish formed this organization in 2011 and are members of one of four teams. Each team is “on call” with our group’s cell phone and responds to requests from those in need. Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to assist those outside our parish boundaries and can only give the caller the names and phone numbers of other groups in the Sacramento area that might be able to provide help.
BECOME A MEMBER OF SVDP
Through prayer, fellowship, and service “Vincentians” worldwide seek to meet Christ in serving the needs of the poor and others in need. Consider joining the SVDP Conference by attending a meeting at St. Anthony’s. They are held at 7:30 pm on every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month in the St. Mary’s room at the Memorial Center. You will receive no pressure to join. After attending a few meetings and making a couple of home visitations with team members you may join us if you feel comfortable about it. For more information call the parish office at 916-428-5678.
